ICAN Civil Society Forum „The courage to ban nuclear weapons“
6th and 7th December 2014 – Vienna
Are you interested in international (disarmament) politics and nuclear weapons, or have you ever wanted to take part in a large international Conference? The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons and the Austrian Chapter ICAN Austria are looking for volunteers to help implement the ICAN Civil Society Forum.
During this two-day conference, panel discussions, workshops and exhibitions will shed light on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons. We are expecting over 400 international participants from all over the world.
We are looking for interested young people who want to contribute to the success of the event. Everybody should have the possibility to get involved in the programme of the forum.
We are looking for:
- Motivated young people
- Enjoyment of work in an international environment
- Flexibility
- Team players
- A friendly disposition
- Min. 18 years old
Tasks include:
- Catering assistance
- Montage/Demontage
- Registration and Wardrobe
- Guest services
- Exhibition facilitation
- Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, support for interviews…)
Our offer:
- The experience of working on an international conference and its execution
- You will obtain a good understanding for the practical and political aspects of this sort of conference
- During the preparation work, we will explain the background of international disarmament politics, our campaign and the arena of international politics
- Free participation in the CSF
- An official certificate of participation
- Meals during the CSF
- Sustainable ICAN Austria T-shirt and tote bag, with customised cup
- Free entry to the closing party, „Nuclear Weapons are so 80s“, on Dec 9 at the Grelle Forelle
When we need you:
- Monday, November 24, evening: get-to-know-you meeting, introduction of the campaign and the Forum
- Monday, December 1, training sessions; 15:30: Visit to the Aula der Wissenschaften, Wollzeile 27a, 1010 Vienna
- Friday, December 5: Montage and early registration in the Aula
- December 6-7: ICAN Civil Society Forum
